Town Hall Meetings on City Finances and the Charter Amendment

The City of Grand Rapids encourages residents, representatives of community organizations and business and property owners to attend one of six town hall meetings scheduled in April. These meetings are designed to engage attendees in a conversation about City finances and the Charter amendment.

The Town Hall Meetings will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. on the following dates and locations:

Monday, April 12, 2010 – Union High School (1800 Tremont Blvd. NW)

Wednesday, April 14, 2010 – Northpointe Christian High School (3101 Leonard NE)

Thursday, April 15, 2010 – Gerald R. Ford Middle School (851 Madison SE)

Monday, April 19, 2010 – Creston High School (1720 Plainfield NE)

Wednesday, April 21, 2010 – Alger Middle School (921 Alger St. SE)

Thursday, April 22, 2010 – Burton Middle School (2133 Buchanan SW)

At these meetings, the City’s Chief Financial Officer Scott Buhrer will provide a financial update, Deputy City Manager Eric DeLong will report on what we have accomplished and City Manager Greg Sundstrom will discuss an outline for transformation, and engage residents in a discussion on City finances and the Charter amendment.

In announcing the meetings, Mayor George K. Heartwell said, “We are shaping the future of our city and it is important that citizens are provided with an opportunity to have a face-to-face conversation with staff to ensure all questions are answered.”
